Description
The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Certification course is a comprehensive entry-level scuba certification program for anyone who wants to progress from introductory diving to becoming a certified recreational scuba diver.
Conducted by professional SDI instructors at Eco Diver India in Havelock Island, the course combines academic learning, confined-water skills and open-water training to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required for recreational scuba diving.
You will learn how to properly use scuba equipment, control your buoyancy, communicate underwater, plan dives and respond to common diving situations while developing safe and responsible diving practices.

Course Structure
Theory Training
You will study the fundamental principles of recreational scuba diving, including equipment, diving physics, physiology, safety, dive planning and responsible diving practices.
Confined-Water Training
Before progressing to open water, you will develop and practise essential scuba skills in a controlled training environment.
Open-Water Training
The course includes:
4 required open-water scuba dives
The dives allow you to apply the skills learned during your theory and confined-water sessions in real diving conditions.
The current SDI standard specifies a maximum training depth of 18 m / 60 ft for Open Water Scuba Diver training.
Course Requirements
Minimum Age: 18 years; 10–17 with applicable written parental consent and junior limitations
Total Dives: 4 Open Water Dives
Course Duration: Approximately 20 training hours;(4 Days) Eco Diver’s actual calendar schedule may vary
Maximum Depth: 18 m / 60 ft
Prerequisites: No previous scuba certification required

Certification
After successfully completing the required academic, confined-water and open-water training components, students receive the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification.
The certification allows the diver to participate in recreational scuba diving within the limits of their training, certification and applicable SDI requirements.
